What is a Workspace?
A Workspace is the team-level container in Pathmode. One workspace per team, account, or company. It holds:
- Products — the surfaces you're improving (onboarding, checkout, the mobile app)
- Members — the people doing the work, with roles and access
- Settings — vision, north star, constitution rules, integrations
A workspace is the top of the hierarchy. Everything else — evidence, intents, build queue — lives inside a Product inside the workspace.
Why a single workspace per team
Some product tools fragment teams across multiple accounts, projects, or organizations. Pathmode keeps the workspace single because intent ownership is a team-level question: who decides what gets built, who reviews specs, who can ship.
Splitting that across accounts means evidence gets siloed, vision drifts, and the same friction gets specced twice in two places. A single workspace keeps the evidence layer unified even when products are distinct.
Workspace vs. product vs. intent
| Level | Holds | Persists across |
|---|---|---|
| Workspace | Products, members, vision, north star | Org lifetime |
| Product | Evidence, intents, build queue | Until the surface is retired |
| Intent | Spec, outcomes, anchored evidence | Until shipped and verified |
If you find yourself wanting two workspaces, you probably want two products. If you find yourself wanting two products, check whether they actually have distinct evidence — if not, they're one product with subtopics.
