Why Pathmode exists
AI made implementation cheap. It did not make direction automatic. User evidence still lives across interviews, support conversations, metrics, and meeting notes, while coding agents wait in the repo for a precise answer to a different question: what should be true when this work is done?
Pathmode began as a workspace where product teams wrote specs for agents. Usage showed us a different workflow: agents were already writing the specs. The human's essential role was not authorship. It was deciding whether to stand behind what the agent proposed.
That moved Pathmode's center of gravity into the repository. An open IntentSpec records the portable decision where implementation happens. Pathmode now focuses on the boundary a file cannot hold alone: private evidence, attributed human judgment, and staleness that crosses repositories.
Pathmode is a Finnish company, registered as Pathmode Oy, built with the belief that great products come from judgment under evidence — not merely producing more software faster.

What drives every decision
Evidence before commitment
Signals can support or challenge a proposal, but they do not make the decision for you. Make the case visible before cheap execution turns an assumption into code.
Intent over output
Understanding why a change deserves to exist matters more than how quickly an agent can build it. Outcomes and boundaries make that intent something implementation can answer to.
Judgment stays human
An agent can draft, challenge, and verify a spec. It cannot own the product decision. Authorization and accountability stay with the people who carry the consequences.
