The repo workflow is free.
Use intent.md and deterministic preflight in every repo. Upgrade only when your team needs private evidence, named guest feedback, signed-in authorization, and shared context outside git.
Always free
Local, keyless, and yours.
The product decision lives in intent.md beside the code it governs. Pathmode's local tools read, preflight, and write that file without sending its contents to Pathmode.
- Repo-local intent.md in every project
- Six-gate deterministic preflight
- Agent drafting and repo-safe saves
- OpenSpec import and agent-ready exports
- No account, API key, or hosted model required
Connected workspace plans

Frequently asked questions
Can I try Pathmode for free?
Yes. The repo-local workflow is free: install the MCP server, draft or read intent.md, and run the deterministic preflight without an account or API key. You can also create a connected Free workspace for private evidence, review, and team context within the limits shown above. No credit card is required.
What does a connected workspace add?
intent.md keeps the product decision with the code. A connected workspace keeps what should not live in git: private evidence, attributed human review and authorization, decision history, implementation findings, and shared context across the team. The repo-bound file remains the authority for implementation.
How does per-seat billing work?
You pay for editor seats: team members who can create and edit content. Viewer seats are free. Pro starts at 1 seat. Team has a 5-seat minimum. Added seats are charged immediately with prorated billing for the rest of the current period.
Do my developers need seats?
Not for local tools or automated agents. Editor seats apply only to people with write access to the connected workspace. Viewers and account-free guest reviewers are free, and developers who do need to edit or authorize workspace content can be assigned an editor seat. Coding agents read the repo-bound intent.md first.
What counts as an AI conversation?
Each successful AI-assisted operation hosted by the connected workspace counts once, including drafting, extraction, synthesis, and implementation verification. Local MCP tools, deterministic preflight runs, and usage of Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or another model you already pay for do not count toward this allowance.
What happens if I hit a limit?
Connected-workspace limits do not affect local intent.md files or preflight runs. In the workspace, you'll see a prompt to upgrade; existing data is never deleted, but you cannot create more of the limited item until you upgrade or remove some.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade any time from your workspace settings. Changes take effect immediately with prorated billing, while seat removals lower future charges rather than creating an instant refund.
Do you offer annual discounts?
Yes. Annual billing is discounted compared to monthly — switch the toggle to yearly and each plan shows its exact saving. You can move between monthly and annual billing at any time.
What currency do you charge in?
Self-serve checkout is priced in USD.
