Keep the planning that works
Claude Code plan mode lets you inspect a proposed approach before code changes. Cursor plan mode supports clarifying questions, editable plans, and saving a plan in the repository. Your team can already involve a product reviewer in either workflow.
Use Pathmode when that reviewer needs to compare the proposal with the original request, answer the missing product questions, and inspect how their answers changed the proposal before approving it. Keep plan mode for working through the implementation approach.
From an answer to an approved version
In a connected workspace, the reviewer’s answers and requested changes are saved for the repository agent to apply. The agent updates intent.md and returns the proposal for review. If no assistant is listening, the answers remain saved and the engineer must resume the review. Sending an answer does not approve the resulting proposal.
Pathmode refuses execution instructions when required approval or readiness checks fail, including when the repository file does not match the approved version. The agent is instructed to use those checks before building. It can still act outside that flow; Pathmode does not control every action the agent takes.
With GitHub connected, opening or updating a PR linked to the intent can trigger an advisory review of the diff against the intended behavior. The review cites the code it read. If it cannot run, Pathmode records that it is unavailable. A diff review does not establish that the outcome happened for customers.
Using a spec workflow too?
Keep Spec Kit or OpenSpec if they suit your team. They organize specification and implementation artifacts; this page focuses on reviewing an agent’s plan with the person who owns the product decision. See the spec-driven development comparison for how those workflows fit together.
